Entrance Antiphon Ps 23:5-6

These are the saints who received blessings from the Lord and mercy from God their Savior. They are the people who seek him.

Opening Prayer

Lord God,

you distinguished Blessed John

by his holiness of life and with heavenly gifts.

With the help of his example and prayers,

may we hold fast to the things of heaven

amid the distractions of this passing world.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Prayer over the Gifts

Lord,

may these gifts of our service,

which we place upon your altar

in memory of Blessed John,

be acceptable to you.

Free us from attachment to the things of this world,

and make us rich in possessing you alone.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon Ps 33:9

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Happy are those who find their refuge in him.

Prayer after Communion

Lord,

by the power of this sacrament

and the example of Blessed John,

lead us always in the way of your love.

May the good work which you have begun in us

come to perfection on the Day of Christ Jesus,

who is Lord for ever and ever.
