SAINT PETER OF ARBUES, PRIEST AND MARTYR

Entrance Antiphon

This saint fought for to death for the law of his God never fearing the mockery of the wicked. His house was founded on solid rock.

Opening Prayer

All-powerful God,

to serve you is to reign.

By the intercession of Saint Peter,

grant that we may serve you

in holiness and justice all the days of our life.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Prayer over the Gifts

Lord,

sanctify with your blessing the gifts we offer.

May they kindle within us the fire of your love,

which enabled Saint Peter to overcome

the torture inflicted on his body.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon Mt 16:24

Anyone who wishes to be a follower of mine, says the Lord, must renounce self, and take up his cross and follow me.

Prayer after Communion

Lord,

we pray that the mysteries we have received

may give us that fortitude of spirit,

which enabled the martyr Saint Peter

to be faithful in your service

and victorious in his suffering.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
