SAINT WILLIAM OF AEBELHOLT, ABBOT

Entrance Antiphon Ps 23:5-6

These are the saints who received blessings from the Lord and mercy from God their Savior. They are the people who seek him.

Opening Prayer

Lord, in the life of abbot Saint William,

you gave us an example of gospel perfection.

Grant that, avoiding the distractions of this passing world,

we may walk unerringly in the footsteps of Christ.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Prayer over the Gifts

Lord, may these gifts of our service,

which we place upon your altar in memory of Saint William,

be acceptable to you.

Free us from attachment to the things of this world,

and make us rich in possessing you alone.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon Ps 33:9

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Happy are those who find their refuge in him.

Prayer after Communion

Lord, by the power of this sacrament

and the example of Saint William,

lead us always in the way of your love.

May the good work which you have begun in us

come to perfection on the Day of Christ Jesus,

who is Lord for ever and ever.
