The clothing of the Novices

This year the Stift was blessed to be able to clothe five novices from a variety of countries.

The solemn Mass of St. Augustine's Feast with Profession of Vows

This year our novices, Doms Nicolaus and Ignatius made their simple professions along with Dom Meinrad who renewed his profession for another three years.  Dom Albert was the man of the hour as he returned from his assignment in our parish in Bergen, Norway to make his solemn profession and become finally a fully professed canon regular of Klosterneuburg.

Clemens and Bruno help Albert get ready in the sacristy.

Doms Meinrad, Nicolaus and Ignatius

Presenting their intention to the Provost

to live for three years in our house, under our rule of life

Meinrad signs his vows on the altar

Dom Albert comes before the Provost
and asks to be admitted to solemn vows

His prostration is symbolic of his death to the world
and his oblation of himself to God
as we chant the Litany of the Saints

"So help me God and this His holy Gospel!"

Albert receives the rochet, symbol of the canon regular

...and the mozetta at the hands of the Provost

Congratulations!

The other capitulars (solemnly professed)
also congratulate the new canon

to get down to the important part!
