Born in Bohemia on February 10, 1915.

Received the habit at Herzogenburg in December, 1936.

On November 15, 2006 Dom Josef passed away at the age of 91, after 59 years of priestly service.

Dom Josef was a frequent guest at Stift Klosterneuburg and was an important part of our community.

Please remember him in your prayers.

Josef passed away during the procession from the sacristy to the church on our way to celebrate mass on the Feast of Saint Leopold.

Dom Rudolf is voted into the Chapter

On November 8, the Chapter voted to accept Rudolf Czaby into solemn vows - congratulations Rudolf!!!

Mariazell

Every year in September, the chapter makes a "study retreat" at Mariazell, which is a Marian Pilgrimage Shrine in the Alps an hour west of Vienna.

Daily Mass was at the main altar of the Shrine.

We had three conferences each day - this year's topic was Canon Law.

We also managed to eat very well while we were there.

Benedikt and Sebastian in the Sacristy. At the breakfast table Ambros, Bruno, and Gabriel enjoy an afternoon beer

Ambros can't wait for next year!

Erntedankfest (Harvest Festival) at Donaufeld Parish

Here in Vienna, all the parishes have their own Thanksgiving, or harvest festival, on different weekends during the month of October. This year, the juniors all went to Donaufeld to celebrate with Doms Daniel and Josef at their new parish.

Pater Josef, the temporary Moderator of the parish speaking with some of the parishoners.

Stefan, who is responsible for the altar servers, with Jakob, one of our servers
Dom Hartmann made a new friend. Claudia and Walter Pöltzl (friends from Klosterneuburg) joined us for the afternoon. The Canons in full force.
Doms Alipius and Sebastian relaxing Dom Elias, Stefan Wohlraab, and Dom Daniel Dom Anton was pastor in Donaufeld before becoming our Novicemaster

Leopoldi

On November 15, we celebrate the feast of Saint Leopold, the founder of Stift Klosterneuburg.

Here are some pictures from this year's celebration:

We start with a procession that starts in the Sacristy...
and winds its way through the monastery,

outside and around the front of the building, finally making our way to the Church.

After mass, the Provost gives a blessing with the relic (skull) of Saint Leopold.

What we're doing now:

In Rome, Italy

Dom Elias has joined Doms Maximilian and Alipius in Rome, where he will be working on his Licentiate at the Gregorian University.

Maximilian and Alipius continue their studies at the Angelicum University.

In Bergen, Norway

Doms Lukas and Alois are holding down the fort on their own now that Elias has left to go to Rome. We're not sure whether anybody will be going up to fill Elias' vacancy.

In Vienna

Clemens continues as Parochial Vicar at the Stift parish.

Josef and Daniel are working at Donaufeld parish, which is just across the river from the Stift.

Rudolf is continuing his studies in Salzburg.

Bruno has been assigned to work at Langenzersdorf parish, which is also just across the river.

Georg is continuing his studies at Holy Cross here in Vienna.

Theobald is continuing his studies at Heathrop College in London.

Albert has begun working as supply priest to several of our parishes.

Meinrad has begun his studies in Church Music at the University of Vienna.

And the Novices are now up and running with their novitiate.

Dom Hartmann has been coaching a local (American rules) football team this fall.

Here, he is getting ready for the annual Coaches vs. Players match.
