HABEMUS EPISCOPUM ! |

It is with both great joy and sadness
that we announce the appointment by the Holy See
of our Novice Master and Master of Clerics,
Ad. Rev. Dom Markus
Eidsvig
as bishop of the Diocese of Oslo, Norway.
We are proud that the Holy See has recognized his abilities and gifts in this way, and it is a great honor for the Stift that one of its own has been chosen for this task. Nonetheless, while it is an honor, it is also a trial. Dom Markus has presided over the flourishing of our novitiate and juniorate here at Klosterneuburg for 10 years and has been largely responsible for our recent growth. A man blessed with vision and openness to others and to possibilities, he has inspired us to respond generously to God in coming here. Like several other members of the juniorate, Dom Markus entered the community already a diocesan priest. He was ordained a priest of Oslo in 1982, and served there for 9 years before finally heeding the call to the canonical life which had pursued him through the years. He was named Novice Master and Master of Clerics shortly after making his solemn profession in 1995.
We pray
that we will be able to continue in the spirit of that vision and openness, and
we pray that God will bless Dom Markus in his service as bishop of Oslo.

Gregorian Chant Festival
On July 1, the juniorate participated in the annual Gregorian Chant Festival in Vac (pronounced: Vahts), Hungary, which is about a half hour up the Danube river from Budapest. This five day festival featured 19 choral groups from all over Europe - we were very honored to be able to participate!
Our choir director, Xaver Kainzbauer, has been working hard with the Klosterneuburg Juniorate for the last several years, and has accomplished much with the little he had to work with (our meager singing abilities). It has been rocky going for a long time, but It was very exciting for us to finally be proficient enough to be able to perform in public at an event such as this!
In the afternoon, our performance was recorded by a Hungarian radio station, and then in the evening we performed in one of the local Churches to a relatively full crowd.
We will be receiving a copy of the recording soon. As soon as we do, we will post it on the website so that you can hear our performance.
Enjoy the photos!
