New Document:
Part of the work of this website
is to create an archive of important documents. We have just added the
Abbot Primate's letter to the Confederation on the occasion of the
fortieth anniversary of its founding. Though four years old, the
theme addressed is one of perennial importance: preaching.

A Reflection on Pentecost
On Pentecost we celebrate the "un-making" of the disunity
of the old Adam and the making of a new unity in the New Adam, Jesus Christ.
What was
shattered as a consequence of human sin and became the world of suspicious and
competitive groups in which we still find ourselves is being overcome as read
this very sentence by the
unifying and reconciling Spirit of Christ. While the story of the tower of Babel
relates the failure of human pride and power to unify humanity, the story of
Pentecost tells us how God has indeed overcome these deep and painful divisions
and brought about a new human family, what St. Paul calls the
Israel of God, or we simply call the Church. Into the Church every one is called and it is
through us, who are already part of this new unity, founded on the forgiveness
of our sins, that the rest of the
the human race will find the One who can forgive, heal and give
eternal life.
Overcoming national, linguistic and cultural differences is often difficult and slow.
But it is happening all around us, especially in the Church. As the Church is Catholic, i.e.
universal, so too do the part of the Mystical Body reflect this mark of the
Church. Here at Stift Klosterneuburg, an Austrian house, we are proud to
see the Holy Spirit working here as well, bringing men to live and work together on the way to God as Canons Regular. Besides the
Austrians, who themselves come from diverse backgrounds, there are members from
the Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Germany and the United States of America. In the
years to come, we can only hope that this unity in Christ will grow stronger
through mutual respect and fraternity charity rooted in the Risen Lord who has
given His Spirit to overcome the obstacles that divide the human race and
realize the peace and joy of the Kingdom.
Pentecost Pictures
The following pictures come from the various Sacred
Lituriges of Pentecost. Beginning with the chanting of the Veni, Sancte
Spiritus (Come Holy Spirit) on Saturday afternoon, we gave praise and glory
to God in Word and Sacrament.
Enjoy the photos.
